Agricultural Tour - Monday, August 11

Our program partners in Hawaii have assembled an engaging array of sites and activities to give us a flavor of Hawaii and of Hawaiian agriculture. The agricultural tour will leave the hotel at 8:00 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. The American Association of Pesticide Safety Educators reception will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

You will be given a box lunch for the tour. If you have special dietary needs for your box lunch, contact Gerald Kinro. The tour will return to the hotel at 5:30 p.m.

The tour destination sites are: Nuuanu Pal, a scenic overlook of agricultural lands; Hawaiian Sunshine Nursery, an ornamental flowers and foliage nursery; Leonard Wong's, Luau Leaves and Fresh Prawns; University of Hawaii, Agriculture Experiment Station - papaya, banana, ornamentals, Wong Luau Leaves Farm, a taro leaf and prawn operation; and, Del Monte Oahu, a pineapple plantation.

The cost for the tour is $25 per person. The tour is open to workshop participants, their family or their guests. Sunscreen and dress that is appropriate for warm, sunny weather is recommended.

Contact the University of Hawaii to add the tour to your existing registration, or sign up in your registration packet. Registration deadline is July 18.
